ShareGift was co-founded in 1996 by Claire Mackintosh (Viscountess Mackintosh of Halifax) and Matthew Orr. The intricate day-to-day operation necessary to generate ShareGift’s income stream is carried out by a small team.
Claire Mackintosh, Chief Executive
Claire had 16 years experience in the City prior to launching ShareGift. She worked in UK Equities as a pension fund manager, then was involved in the setting up and worldwide marketing of one of the earliest East European private equity funds. Between 1992 and 1995 she specialised in the Korean stockmarket, working in Seoul and London, before leaving to structure and develop the ShareGift concept.
David McIntosh, Head of Operations
David joined ShareGift in 2005. He has previous experience both in the broking industry and in the UK charity sector. In addition to operational matters he is the primary contact for our corporate partners. He also prepares the Charity’s financial records.
Susan Brealey, Associate
Susan has worked with ShareGift's Chief Executive for more than a decade, assisting on communications, governance and strategy matters. Before that, she had a career in the media- BBC Radio and commercial television. She is also the Director of the MCC Foundation, the charitable arm of the MCC.
All ShareGift’s Trustees have experience of serving as a trustee for other charities and are selected for their commercial awareness, professional interests and other expertise. The Trustees know the Charity’s aims, ethos and activities well, and meet and spend time with ShareGift’s staff, both before and after their appointment.
Stephen Scott was Group General Counsel and Company Secretary of Vodafone Group plc until his retirement in 2010. Stephen became a Trustee of ShareGift in 2006. Stephen is also an Adviser to Armstrong Bonham Carter, a firm which specialises in Board evaluation, and a Governor of St. Neot's Preparatory School in Eversley, Hampshire.
